Fatouch

Updated October 2023

What a treat it was to NOT eat tapas for a change! Yes, I actually said that. This (mostly vegetarian) feast was enjoyed at Fatouch, Sevilla’s newest (only?) Lebanese restaurant. My first visit there I met up with my Beirutí friend Fourat, who of course knows restaurant owner Anas Honeiny, and she proceeded to order. Another treat for me! I didn’t have to do anything but sit back and enjoy. Since then I have been back a few times and it’s always a treat.

The rustic-chic hipster décor has been meticulously designed by Anas, and is still a bit of a work in progress. Love the long low green marble bar where you can comfortably sit and watch the “show” as the food is prepared in front of you. There is also a charming inside-outside dining area in the entrance as well as a few tables on the the side walk terrace.

On their Instagram account, Fatouch promises a culinary trip to the heart of Beirut without leaving Sevilla. All I can say is that I enjoyed every bite and was thrilled to finally have proper falafel again (the best I’ve encountered since I lived in Toronto). And so much freshness. Fresh herbs, pickles and olives, and assorted veggies accompanied everything. Service is great, attentive and knowledgeable, and there is also a good selection of wines and craft beer. If you’re not sure what to order you can ask for their tasting menu and have a bit of everything.
