Lola Por Dios Cervecería

Jota (José Manuel Leirós) has done it again. After the recent addition of Paquito Pucheros to his local tapas bar empire (including Lola Por Dios Alameda, Casa Macareno & Ostras y Puñales) he has revamped his first location In Plaza Puerta Real (La Chalá) with an aim of keeping all the bars in sync while maintaining their own personalities. There is a definite beach bar theme going on here, inspired by the seafood bars along the coasts of Cádiz and Huelva, which is reflected in both the décor and the menu. Inside there is a long L-shaped bar with tall tables running along the window-lined walls. The pretty tree-filled terrace has both high and low tables.

On the short snacky menu you will find some familiar dishes from Jota’s other locations, along with others that are more in keeping with the beach bar concept. We loved all the fritos and the scallops, and I was especially taken by the almogrote, a spicy cheese pâté from the Canary Islands. There are some nice wines by the glass, but you’re really here for the ice cold beer. Friendly, casual service.
