Potaje by day, ramen by night. The newest project of José Manuel Leirós (aka Jota), who also runs Lola por Dios, Casa Macareno, Ostras y Puñales and fusiony La Chalá, revives the historic Bar Los Vázquez, housed in a corner building designed by Ánibal González. As always Jota has overseen the renovation of this small 60 metre space, combining traditional and contemporary elements to create a space that is both classic and stylish. The bar area inside has about half a dozen tall metal tables and chairs, outside is an ample side walk terrace with both high and low tables.
The lunchtime menu pays homage to homestyle comforting stews that change daily, as well as a good selection of snacks and starters. The zamburiñas de bellota and pringá ravioli are both must haves. In the evening the daily stews give way to a that day’s ramen dish which can be ordered spicy or mild. Mostly regional wines available, including sherries and vermouth, with friendly service.
