Updated March 2023
Update: With the reopening of Baco Victoria Eugenia next door in March 2023 Baco Cuna has been closed temporarily while they decide which direction to take the restaurant forward.
In a word: spectacular. That’s the first impression when you cross the threshhold into the Restaurante Cuna 2, part of the long established Baco Sevilla Group. Housed in a four-story mansion that was designed by the great Ánibal Gonzalez and which has been beautifully restored, it feels like you are eating inside a work of art. A cool mix of old world beauty and ultra modern designer furniture creates a uniquely stylish ambiance.
There are three tapas bars on the main floor and several dining rooms on the first and second floors, each with its own “personality”, which can also be booked for private events. Or you can sit out on the sidewalk terrace and people watch while you eat or enjoy a late afternoon cocktail. But the jewel is the fabulous rooftop bar with its magnificent views, which is open from 4pm on.
The service in the tapas bars (haven’t tried the restaurant) is professional without being stuffy and the food is, like the building, a mix of traditional and trendy. Be sure to try the bacalao with garlic confit and tomato, a signature dish in all the Baco Group restaurants. Other favourites are the filo triangles filled with apples, walnuts, endive and goat cheese and pretty much anything grilled (Iberian pork cuts, beef, octopus). The daily tapas specials are also well worth checking out, as is the most dapper jamón cutter in town, Pedro, who has his station in the elegant patio entrance.
