On the edge of Barrio Santa Cruz, this third El Pasaje location is more restaurant than tapas bar, though there is a small tapas selection on the menu. Inside there is a long bar opening onto a cluster of tall tables in front of the open kitchen, leading to two attractive dining areas. There is also a small terrace across the street.
Expect classic dishes with a twist. The croquetas del chef are filled with spinach, idiazabal cheese and pinenuts (delish) and tender carrillada Ibérica (braised pork cheek) is served with pisto (ratatouille) and alioli. Be sure to try their award winning tapa – marinated salmon, tomato-arugula vinaigrette, and avocado creme on a crispy Ines Rosales orange torta de aceite. Attentive service and welcoming ambiance. Good wine list.
