Ovejas Negras is a popular “gastro bar” next to the Cathedral. I’ve tried to like it, really I have, but I’m afraid I’m ready to give up. The tapas are nice enough (albeit pricey), and the wine list is better than average, but service is erratic and the 1 euro per person “service charge” is really not okay. On the menu it says that “bread & picos” are 1 euro per person, but we didn’t eat our one small packet of picos and were still charged. The charge was eventually removed from the bill but the waitress returned to tell us that the charge was for her to serve us. Whaaat? So unless you’re looking for a spendy-trendy gastrobar experience with rude service, well, there are plenty of other bars in town.
It’s curious because their sister bar La Chunga gets it so right.
