Since Mario Ríos Aguilera and Curro Noriego from Besana Tapas in Utrera took over La Fabrica they have truly made it their own. Just like at Besana, only tapas are served here, no big plates or raciones. I like the industrial chic look combined with rustic wooden tables and mismatched chairs. And I always like an open kitchen. Aside from the bar and dining area there’s also a sidewalk terrace.

The tapas are of the same creative style and excellent quality that is served in Besana, though the menus aren’t the same. My favourites included the grilled chipirones filled with butifarra and the seafood ravioli with a gorgeous chardonnay sauce. But a regular “house favourite” – the gorgonzola filled mini burger – failed to impress. Be sure to ask about the daily tapas specials – we had an amazing mackerel tapa, though now I can’t remember the details other than it was delicious. Menus are seasonal so some of what you see here may no longer be there when you go, but no doubt something equally delicious will have taken its place. There’s a nice selection of wines by the glass and service is friendly and efficient.
