Veganí

What began as a vegan takeaway shop is now a full-on organic vegan restaurant. Owner Paula Benítez moved to larger premises in 2023 (just north of the Feria Market) and also expanded the seasonal menu. The bright corner restaurant is divided into three areas: bar, high tables and the dining room, with a capacity for about 40 diners. Although the minimalist decor is fresh and attractive, we felt it could use a little help with the acoustics. Anyhow, after seeing rave reviews from a couple of decidedly meat-loving food writers I decided it was time to try it out.

The menu is short (13 dishes and 3 desserts) with a selection of tapas and larger plates, and there is usually a special of the day. The (very) short wine list features organic natural wines and there is also a nice selection non-alcoholic options. Favourite dishes were the pochas with jerusalem artichoke & sumac and the leek stroganoff. We were intrigued by the pears in curry sauce dessert but were offered a kiwi substitution instead, which didn’t really seem to work. But overall it was a pleasant meal and I would certainly recommend it to vegetarians, and especially vegans, who don’t get a lot of choice in Sevilla.
