The latest offering by Grupo Manducare (their fourth in the city) recreates a typical sevillana cervecería with white and blue tiles inside (tall tables run along the wall) and an ample terrace.
The menu is small, offering mostly seafood and fish (fried, smoked or marinated) with a few traditional stews and meat options. On a couple of visits we really enjoyed the fried cuttlefish (chocos) and battered salt cod (pavía) and yes, that beer is nice and cold.
Especially these days I don’t like to harp on service because I know how hard it’s been for bars and restaurants to get (and keep) wait staff, but on both occasions the kitchen staff were much friendlier and attentive than the waiters, who didn’t seem to know what was on the wine list or how to stop looking at their phones instead of paying attention to clients. So perhaps the Grupo could look into giving their staff a bit more training.
Otherwise, it’s a pleasant spot and clearly already popular with locals.
