Más Que Postres

mas que postres

I first came across Manu Jara’s innovative desserts a couple of years ago at kitsch-tastic Puratasca in Triana. In his workshop in Mairena, also used to give courses in baking, his inspiration takes sweet shape, respecting the premium raw ingredients used to create an astounding selection of cakes and pastries. Pioneer of the “sweet tapa” one of Manu’s most whimsical creations is the “chocoburger”, a confection of sweet brioche bun, chocolate “burger” and orange and mango “cheese”.

Manu Jara was born in Nancy, France and that French influence is readily apparent in the decor of this small patisserie housed in a former ultramarinos (a tile sign says it was refurbished in 1930).

There is a small assortment of artisanal breads, but the mainstay is an appetising variety of breakfast pastries (croissants, danish, bolas de leche), pastéis de nata, macaroon gift boxes and exquisite individual cakes.

It is mostly a takeaway outlet but you can eat your chosen treats on the premises at the small ledges against one wall, and though there are no beverages the bars just around the corner in Plaza Atozano are happy to serve you coffee with your Más Que Postres selection.
