Chef Ernesto Malasaña has come a long way since opening his first solo venture Bar Antojo in 2011. His brand #TuHogarFueraDeCasa (your home away from home) now comprises 6 different concepts, in Sevilla and Málaga. This latest – the sixth – is attached to the Hotel Inglaterra and has a very corporate look and feel to it. In fact, you would be forgiven for thinking you’d happened into a Sheraton lounge practically anywhere in the world. That’s not to say it isn’t attractive, but it just all feels a bit like a place without a heart.

Food’s good, though not exceptional, especially given the prices. Service is mostly okay, though on a second visit we were waited on by the charming Fernando. Unfortunately, not all the staff are as affable, knowledgeable and efficient. The menu is small and eclectic, a bit of this, bit of that, several with Asian influences.

Would I go back? Yes, for a drink at the jungly bar – it’s a good central meeting place.
