Updated January 2018
One of the Robles branches, Placentines has recently had a make-over and the exterior and terrace have a fresh modern look. The inside remains classically traditional, with a small bar area and a spacious dining room with large windows looking out into the street. There is also an upstairs dining room for larger groups, or for when it fills up downstairs.
The menu has both tapas and raciones (large plates) – there are no media-raciones (medium plates), which is a trend I’ve been noticing at bars here lately. Tapas can be ordered at the bar or at the tables, other than weekends and holidays when you can only have tapas at the bar. The food here is traditional and top quality (don’t be put off by the photos on the menu!). Service is professional. Love the grilled bacon-wrapped prawns in creamy oloroso sauce – old school done to perfection. And there’s an all-day kitchen.
