Lobo López is part of the La Vida en Tapas group, a local chain that also owns Duo Tapas, Sidonia, Chifa, La Terraza, Gigante Bar, Típico and Nazca. And like its siblings the focus is on hipster décor and a fusiony menu, in this case with Asian and Andean flavours. The large space is divided into three areas with vertical gardens, lots of wood, tiles and plants. It’s attractive in a way, but also feels a bit contrived.
The short menu offers everything from traditional dishes to tapas with a twist. To be honest, I tend to keep away from anything in Sevilla that pretends to be even remotely Asian, especially “woks”, “curries” and, more recently “poke bowls”. So we tried a few tapas that seemed safe, and although they were fine, I’ve certainly had better. Also, we had ordered our presa Ibérica “a su punto” and it came overdone and dried out. Yes, the dish was replaced, and was better the second time round, but in general the service was not very helpful and the staff didn’t seem well-trained. I think people go here more for the jungly ambiance, and perhaps the cocktails. And it’s open all day, so that makes it handy.
