I’d previously been to Ignacio Vidal Centro, and decided that it was time to visit the original restaurant in Porvenir. It’s quite a large establishment, with a substantial bar area for tapas, and a restaurant-dining area in the back (the posher bit, with tablecloths and everything), in a fairly modern style, but including exposed brick pillars, and some nice paintings on the walls. Good service, especially as we were there quite late in the afternoon, and I think the kichen was “winding down”.
There’s good selection of tapas and wines. The tapas were a bit more expensive than standard, but also a little larger, so worked out quite reasonable. The quality was very good too. Favourites were an excellent tuna tataky, and a “broken eggs” style tapa with jamón and fried potatoes on a bed of pisto.
