A stone’s throw from the Plaza Alfalfa, El Traga is a chic modern restaurant run by Chef Jesús Rosendo, along with co-owners (and brothers) Manuel & Pedro Adame. There’s a bar section as you walk in with large windows facing the street and a spacious interior dining room towards the back. In between is an impressive glass enclosed wine cellar.
The market-based menu offers a good selection of updated traditional dishes with an extensive daily specials menu. Perfect croquetas and buñuelos, gorgeous grilled fish and meats. On a recent visit we also loved the large prawns (gambones) al ajillo with gazpachuelo. The wine list is very well thought out and the service is professional and friendly.
