Bodeguita La Parihuela

Updated August 2022

I’ve known this bar, and its owner Jonathan, since it first opened in 2008, as I used to live just around the corner, and I have enjoyed watching it grow and evolve over the years. A typical neighbourhood bar with a distinct Semana Santa feel to it (a parihuela is the wooden platform that carries the statues during the Holy Week processions, which is then carried on the necks of the costaleros). Finding a typical neighbourhood bar in Barrio Santa Cruz is no longer as easy at it once was and so it is a pleasure to see La Parihuela maintaining its “bar de barrio” feel and that it remains a place where locals hang out and call it their own.

There is a bar area and two comfortable dining rooms inside and two side walk terraces on the pedestrianised street. Tapas are traditional and delicious, and the service is very friendly and attentive. Be sure to check out the fresh fish of the day on display in the bar area.
