La Estrella, founded in 1939, is the less touristy sister bar of Cervecería Giralda, tucked just around the corner from busy Mateos Gago, and with a cosier and more laid-back ambiance. The menu features traditional tapas – I still think they make one of the best solomillo al whisky in town – and quality in general is very good. The scorpion fish paté is also a favourite here.
Aside from the bar area inside, there is also a dining room and a curious sidewalk terrace that runs along a small callejón next to the bar. Nice wines, efficient friendly service, and good chips too (that last one is not something I often say in Sevilla).
