Tipico is the latest from the ever expanding La Vida en Tapas group, which also runs Duo Tapas, Sidonia, Nazca, Lobo Lopez, Chifa Tapas, La Terraza and Gigante Bar. For this venture owners Juan Alberto and Víctor Fortuna have teamed up with Sergio Ardana and Javier Vargas.
As the name suggests, it’s a fairly typical and traditional Triana bar of medium size, with plenty of local style tilework. Be forewarned that there is no table service and everything must be ordered and picked up at the bar, something I think would be helpful for them to mention either on the menu or on a sign or two in the bar. Or you know, perhaps the bar staff could greet people when they come in and let them know? Just saying.
On a first impression of just a couple of tapas (one of artichokes, one of grilled pork), selected from a generally traditional menu with a few twists and modern additions. Not bad, but didn’t feel like, or taste like, great value for money. Short but good wine list. And there’s an all-day kitchen, which is something different for Triana.
