Porta Rossa

Updated January 2018

I first discovered Porta Rossa almost 20 years ago at their original location in Pastor y Landero, a wonderfully cosy spot that became my go-to place to celebrate birthdays (a tradition that has recently been revived). Later they moved to larger and brighter digs just around the corner, but maintained the comfortable ambiance. The owners are very ‘hands-on’ and give the place a very personal quality that is sometimes missing in Sevilla. All the fresh pastas are made on the premises, and not a pizza in sight.

The menu includes antipasti, pasta dishes, a selection of carpaccios, fish and meat dishes. Personal favourites include the asparagus in pastry starter, and the wonderful ravioli stuffed with pinenuts & seta mushrooms and served in a cream sauce with nutmeg (it tastes like Christmas!). The beef tenderloin in a black peppercorn and vodka sauce is also excellent. I think it’s hard to go wrong here, so just bring your appetite and enjoy.
