A Triana classic, family-run Bar Bistec (now in its third generation) is a favourite with locals and it’s easy to see why. The tapas are inexpensive (and delish!) and the setting is relaxed and cheerful. There’s lots of comfortable seating in the main bar area and also two dining rooms (one up, one down), including a rooftop terrace, which are used for larger groups and events. There’s also a tree-shaded terraza in the little plaza next door.
Excellent quality fish and seafood here, with ice cold beer and a decent selection of wines by the glass. Be sure to try the tortillitas de bacalao and chocos fritos, and their signature dishes – the deep-fried courgette and El Bistec (delicious pork montadito) – are also must haves. One of my fave stops in Triana.
