Founded in 2018 by Sevillano José Antonio de Lamadrid and Mexican David Gallardo, La Lupe is an artisan taquería that incorporates flavours from all regions of Mexico with the influence of the taquerías of northern Mexico. With a new side walk terrace La Lupe can now offer extra seating outdoors, or you can sit inside the colourful and cosy restaurant.
Here everything is made from scratch – their Instagram has some great videos showing dishes “in progress” including various sauces and the tacos themselves. It’s a short menu but also a very adaptable one. Most of the tacos also have vegetarian/vegan options available, and you can also “quesadilla” any of the tacos (yes, they have vegan cheese too). Other dishes are decidedly meaty such as the frijoles puercos (which are fabulous). There are also weekly specials, so be sure to check those out too.
Mexican beer, flavoured waters and cocktails dominate the drinks list, but there are also a couple of decent house wines. Friendly and welcoming service in a casual and fun ambiance.
