I’d been to Pando Centro a few times for events and the odd beer o’clock, but had never got around to visiting it as a tapas bar until I moved to the barrio, almost two years ago now. It’s quite modern inside, and pleasant in a neutral kind of way, with a light and spacious main bar area, a faux (indoor) terrace on the street side, a small patio at the back, and a more formal dining room to the side.
The surprise for me was the quality of the food. Because Pando is part of the San Eloy Group, a largish local network of bars and restaurants, I had been half expecting “good, but nothing special” kind of fare, but in fact it turned out to be very good and excellent value for money. The fritos are excellent, and traditional dishes such as pork loin in tomato sauce and grilled artichokes are well-executed. And be sure to check out the daily specials. Well-located for stopping in for a bite while out shopping. It’s become a neighbourhood favourite.
