El Bacalao in Calle Tarifa has been around forever, but has just finished a long renovation, so I went to see how it turned out. It’s been a while since I was last there, so my comparisons are subject to memory, but the main dining room has been greatly improved, and the bar downstairs has had a lot of greenery added, but seems otherwise similar.
The house specialities are of course mostly bacalao (salt cod), in all its multitudinous forms. The frito selection was good, but other dishes, including the signature bacalao confit were merely okay, and overall a little pricy for the quality and quantity.
