Mesón los Gallegos is the kind of family-run restaurant you’d expect to find in an out-of-the way barrio, not smack in the city centre, just off Plaza del Duque. Run by Rafael, originally from Vigo, and his Sevilla-born daughter Mari Carmen, the blue and white tiled interior is divided into a bar (for tapas) and a dining area (raciones). There is also a terrace out on the pedestrian corridor.
On the menu you’ll find a mix of Galician and Andalusian dishes. We only tried the tapas this time, but looking forward to going back for the zorza, which is only available as a ración. I especially liked the crispy grilled chistorras and the solomillo al whisky. Galician wines are also available at reasonble prices. Service is fast and friendly.
