Grupo Bacalao has redesigned and renamed this location of their two Bacalao restaurants (the other is in Calle Tarifa) to focus not only on bacalao but also grilled meats and fish. The interior is much the same as I remember it, with a long bar area as you enter and dining areas in the back. It’s an attractive space and there are also a couple of high tables out on the side walk.
The food was also much as I remembered it, except… smaller. Their signature dish of bacalao with confit garlic and tomato sauce was scarcely two bites and the sauce was missing its usual tanginess. The other tapas we tried were tasty enough but with indifferent service (and they weren’t busy) it was a bit of a disappointing experience. Might have caught them on an off day?
