Castizo is yet another bar from the ever-expanding Ovejas Negras group. Its name is a reference to traditional homespun customs and the menu reflects that, with no obvious “gastrobar” fare in sight. It’s a comfortable well-lit space with a v-shaped bar and seating on either side. Tapas can be enjoyed at the small bar area next to the open kitchen, raciones are served at the tables. Service is professional and friendly and there’s quite an extensive wine list with lots of options by the glass.
Favourites include the croquetas (which change regularly) and amazing house made chicharrones and super tasty atún encebollado. Check out what’s on offer in the fish and meat display on the front bar. We recently had some super fresh zamburiñas (a type of scallop) barely cooked in the oven and drenched in evoo with garlic, parsley and fresh cilantro. Heaven.
