Barrabás

Updated June 2019

Barrabás is a new gastro-style bar near the Museo de Bellas Artes, owned by the same people as the longer established Iscariote cocktail bar across the street (definitely a theme in the names, but not in the bars themselves).

The premises are pleasant, with a modern style, but also including the section of exposed old brick wall that seems to be de rigeur in such places. There’s an open, but under cover area inside the entrance, which is great when the weather’s right (presumably for smokers?), a longish bar/tapas area with tall tables and stools, and a small dining room in the back for those having larger plates.

Favourites are the grilled chistorras, prawns wrapped in bacon, grilled presa and a super tender solomillo al ajo. Service is still a bit patchy, but overall it’s a nice spot.
