Sevilla’s newest brunch spot Alazena is located next to sister bar Taberna Zubarán in lovely orange-tree filled Plaza de Zurbarán, a tranquil oasis just a stone’s throw from the touristy bustle of Plaza Encarnación and its famous Setas. I’ll be honest, breakfast is seldom a meal I eat out unless I’m travelling, so a late breakfast/brunch option available until 1.00 pm is more my style. As you can see, the space is tiny with only two bar stools inside, but there are several tables set up in what I think is one of the prettiest squares in the city.
Custom made artisanal breads from La Esencia Panaderia are prepared with various delicious toppings – or you can order a simple tostada con tomate y jamón. There are also egg dishes, acai bowls, waffle desserts and more. The fruit smoothies are fabulous, but you could also opt for a cold beer or mimosa. And coffee of course. The quality of the ingredients speak for themselves with each bite and, as always with this group, the service is professional, friendly and attentive.
