San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo is the northwestern neighbourhood extending from the Plaza San Lorenzo to the Barqueta, between the Alameda and the river, and was the last part of the old centre to be fully urbanised, as can be seen from its relatively regular street layout, because of frequent flooding. In San Lorenzo square can be found the parish church and the Basilica of Jesus de Gran Poder, and at the far end of the barrio are the Convent of Santa Clara and the Torre Fadrique. Most of the bars are in or around the San Lorenzo square itself, and include some of the city’s best, all within easy reach of the centre.
