Created about three hundred years ago, but with roots that are much older, Flamenco is one of the most obvious and noticeable elements of Spanish, or in this case more properly Andalucian, culture. Combining music and dance, it’s unique hand-clapping rhythms and movements, distinctivevocal style and Spanish guitar accompaniment are instantly recognisable and part of everybody’s idea of Real Spain, and seeing some “authentic” Flamenco is on the must-do list for many visitors. Most shows nowadays are aimed at the tourist market, but good quality shows with professional performers can be seen at the following places, and it’s well worth going to one.
