After being open just over a year De Dom\u00ednguez underwent a complete makeover this spring, transforming into a “gourmet abacer\u00eda” with sevillano chefs Lucas Bernal and Javier Padura (formerly of Cotidiana) at the helm. I confess I didn’t see it the first version, but the space has been nicely done out, lots of warm wood and brick and plenty of natural light from large windows at both ends. There’s a bar section as you walk in with tall stools, which leads to the dining area at the back.<\/p>\n

The menu has a lot of tapas options, which is nice to see and, as with many other new establishments these days, there is a return to traditional dishes. While the tapas we tried were well-priced and nicely presented we felt they felt just short of the mark. The batter on the pav\u00eda was chewy, the matrimonio somewhat overwhelmed by the addition of grated cheese, the gambas al ajillo arrived lukewarm… but everything was certainly good enough that we’ll be back to give it another chance. Really nice wine list and pleasant service.<\/p>\n
