Another of my neighbourhood (El Arenal) favourites. Sister bar to El Cairo<\/a> just around the corner, Salas has a very sevillano feel to it. Part of the reason for this is that’s it’s built on part of the frontage of the neo-Mudejar building next door, designed by \u00c1nibal Gonzalez, and the small dining rooms to the side are separated by one of those Moorish arches in brick and tile and are quite grand. The main dining room and the tapas and bar area in front are comfortable and spacious. My favourite place is at the bar (also the only spot you can order tapas).<\/p>\n

As the name suggests, Salas specialises in meats and fish cooked over a holm oak charcoal grill (asador). A fairly traditional menu with a seafood bias and just enough inventive touches to keep things interesting. I’ve only had tapas here and it’s hard to pick a favourite because the quality here is consistent throughout.\u00a0 Very good wines and a nice cosy ambiance, with professional and friendly service.<\/p>\n
