Founded in 1880 Casa Cuesta is one of Sevilla’s oldest bars, steeped in history and tradition. And as you would expect, the tapas are very traditional too. It had been years since I stopped in here for more than a quick beer after visiting the Triana market next door, so I thought it was time to pay another visit.<\/p>\n

The food was hit and miss. The flamenqu\u00edn was decent, the lagrimitas de pollo less so (overcooked and chewy) but the tortilla al whisky… I honestly can’t remember the last time I have been served anything that horrendous. An over-microwaved slab of tortilla served with thick cold way-too-salty whisky sauce. My feeling after my previous visit was that, like several bars in Sevilla that have been around a long time, it felt a bit like a place resting on its laurels. But this time I was disappointed with pretty much everything, including the service. It’s a shame because it’s actually an attractive bar but it seems to have gone the route of catering to tourists and assuming that tourists don’t care about eating well or having an enjoyable experience. Mistake.<\/p>\n
