Paco G\u00f3ngora is one of those typical little neighbourhood bars that’s been there forever, but which I’d never been drawn into before. I guess I’d been a bit put off by the rather utilitarian little dining room on the right as you go in, but to the left I discovered a rather cosy and charming bar area with a couple of tables, old-fashioned shuttered windows and a tiny kitchen where the chef hardly has room to turn around.<\/p>\n

Of the tapas that we tried, the setas (mushrooms) in garlicky parsley sauce was the one that would bring me back – delicious. I wasn’t so keen on the fried boquerones, though my friends seemed to enjoy them. We also sampled a tortilla al whisky, and a huge tapa of stewed bull’s tail. All in all, a nice place for a snack and a drink while (on this occasion anyway) watching the rain.<\/p>\n
