This charming spot in the Buhaira (between San Bernardo and Nervion) is a little way out of the centre, but it’s well worth the trip. On the corner of a modernish suburban apartment block it’s simple and pleasant both inside and out on the terrace – inside there are bar and dining areas with plenty of windows to let the light in.

The food is “traditional with a twist” and mostly works. We especially loved the seabass in tempura, ensaladilla with octopus, and meaty grilled setas with prawns. In fact the only dud was one of their most popular dishes, the oxtail ravioli, which was soggy and flavourless, with an over-abundance of tasteless sauce. But apparently people love it. Make sure to book a table because it fills up fast.
