After having walked past this bar countless times over the years, I eventually stumbled into it almost by accident back in 2018, with a nudge from a “regular” standing in the doorway who saw me dithering and told me the tapas were really good. Turned out to be a great choice. So much so that I almost hesitate mention it, as it’s the kind of bar that tends to get overrun by tour companies looking to sell an “authentic” experience. It’s not actually as small as it appears from the outside, with about half a dozen tables, and as many upturned barrel “tables”, giving it a classic look, and a small dining area in the back. There’s a stack of sherry barrels behind the long bar area with plenty of space behind for the staff to comfortably work. Definitely a locals neighbourhood bar and a fun vibe.

There’s a good selection of wines, including some excellent sherries (the house sherries come from Gutiérrez Colosía), which is perfect for the food on offer, traditional charcuterie (from quality producers Lazo and Joselito), preserved fish by Herpac, cheeses and montaditos (toasted filled buns). We’ve loved everything we’ve tried there.
