Talegamar is the new cervecería by Antonio Sánchez and is located inside Arenal Market across from his well-known seafood restaurant El Pesquero (est. 1999). It’s a corner space with a bar inside and tall tables running along its two sides in the market. The name combines a family nickname with the sea (talega + mar) and the menu offers a nice selection of largely seafood-based tapas and raciones. I like the casual (air-conditioned!) ambiance inside, sitting at the bar and chatting with the barmen.

But back to the bar and the food. We’ve stopped by a few times to try a few tapas and I think this will become a regular “pit stop” when out shopping as it’s actually my neighbourhood market (the one closest to my house). The toasted montaditos and sangre con tomate were favourites. A good wine list, ice cold Cruzcampo, and friendly service.
