One of the oldest bars in the Alameda, Casa Paco has recently changed hands and now is part of the group that runs the El Pasaje tapas bars in the centre. It had actually been over nine years since I was here, but lately I’d noticed that the place was looking a bit spiffier so I went in to take a look and stayed to try a few tapas. Although in some ways it’s an improvement over the old spot (clean glasses, friendly staff) it is pretty much an extension of El Pasaje, with some of the same tapas on the menu. And although very friendly, the staff is obviously new and could use a bit more training about the food and wine they are serving.

That said, the tapas I tried were good, and it’s especially nice sitting out on the ample terrace on a warm summer night. There was even a lovely DO Monterrei godello by the glass, so that made me happy! Overall a pleasant experience, but a bit pricey for what you get.
