In a reversal of normal procedure, I was introduced to La Casa del Cordero (which I’d never heard of before) by friends who were staying in Triana. Well, shame on me for that. Founded in 1982, it’s become one of those “de todo la vida! places that far more people should know about. It’s fairly small, with a bar area and a dining room with lots of traditional tiles, and (I think) a large woodcut of sheep being sheared (dated 1985, so probably specially made). Friendly family style service, so a nice ambiance all round.

As you might guess from the name, the house specialities are the lamb dishes, and both the chuletas (chops) and costillas (ribs) were excellent. We also had a traditional tomato salad to start, some grilled morcilla (black pudding), lamb meatballs (really nice sauce), and a couple of lamb liver tapas prepared in different ways.

This is a little “off the beaten track” at the border between Triana and Los Remedios, but well worth making the effort to come out here.
