Founded in August 1970, Casa Ruperto is named for its founder, Ruperto Blanco Caro, who came to Seville in the 1960s with his wife Josefa, and opened a tapas bar near Triana Market. Later they moved it’s current location in the heart of Triana, where it’s become one of those perennially popular “cheap and cheerful” bars that’s always full of locals.

There are only 14 items on the menu and the main house speciality is quail – marinated and then deep fried (also available for takeaway to cook at home). Very tender, super tasty, though as you can see they’re not going to win any plating awards. But it’s that kind of place. The other speciality is seasonal… cabrillas, large snails in a cuminy tomato based sauce. Fast and friendly bar service – you order and pick up your food at the bar.
