After seeing all the sights and eating all the tapas (well, most of them…) the food-obsessed traveller – you know who you are 😉 – may still be searching for a unique experience to round out their Sevilla gastronomic adventure. And what better way than to delve a bit deeper into the origins of the food and wine you’ve been enjoying? Here is a selection of some classes and catas (tastings) offered in Sevilla, in English, so you can learn more about the history of Andalucía in the best way possible – by tasting it.
Taller Andaluz de Cocina (Andalusian School of Cooking) is the creation of three young food professionals, María, José Manuel and chef Victor, who opened the school in a purpose built facility inside the Triana market, fully equipped with all the necessary modern appliances, and spotlessly clean, and with ample space for up to 16 students to enjoy a hands-on learning experience.
Its location in a historic market gives both a connection to the traditions of Andalusian cooking and a ready supply of fresh ingredients. Daily cooking classes and food market tours are available in English.
Olive Oil Tasting
The Olive Oil Workshop is run by Alexis Kerner, a born foodie and also a certified Professional Olive Oil Taster. She is originally from New Jersey and has been residing in and exploring Andalusia for over 12 years.
Alexis always had an interest in olive oil, but it wasn’t until the first course in tasting that she truly fell pit, peel, and lenticel for all there is to know about olive oil. It was from this moment that she became inspired to share the knowledge and joy of olive oil with others. The Olive Oil Workshop provides activities in and around the vicinity of Sevilla for individual travellers, groups of tourists or business people.
