Sahumo

Sahumo is the first person singular of the Spanish verb sahumar – to scent with smoke. You notice this lovely light smoky fragrance as you walk into the charming tapas bar area, which leads into the first dining room. Although the menu isn’t extensive it does cover a lot of bases. There are cold and hot starters, rice and pasta dishes, a couple of fish main courses and then… MEAT. Half a dozen fabulous meat options including Iberian pork, lamb and Galician beef. You can also get a gorgeous selection of wood-grilled vegetables. We’ve tried the presa Ibérica accompanied by papas arrugá and mojo picón, and once in a moment of madness also ordered a whole kilo of Galician beef. Which was spectacular. Every bite of it. On another visit we tried the beef entrecôte, which was also outstanding.

The latest news is that chef Dario has now created a tapas menu! Which is great news for me because, although I don’t think the prices here are unjustified, it’s certainly more than I could afford on a regular basis. We loved the marinated salmon, seabass ceviche and the seafood spaghetti is wonderful (also available as a main dish). I have to say I am both charmed and impressed by Sahumo. Check it out.
