Nazca

Nazca does a nice job with its Peruvian-Japanese fusion menu, which also includes some Spanish items (the nigiri with chicharrones is delish). Run by the partners who own Duo Tapas and Sidonia (and now also Chifa and Típico), Nazca has a similar “young urban” feel to it. The decor is rustic-chic and large windows on two sides of the building let in lots of light. There’s a small sidewalk terrace and a separate dining area across the street.

Food is good, perhaps a bit less “inspired” than when it first opened in 2013 with a different chef – these days the menu seems somewhat formulaic. The ceviches are good and we also liked the maki and nigiri, but you can give the gyozos and “tokyo rolls” a miss.  A grilled pork sirloin was tough and gristly (though the panko breaded potato that came with it was fabulous). Beef and chicken stir-fries are tasty and served in small pans. Be sure to ask about the daily specials.
