La Fresquita

Updated April 2017

La Fresquita opened the same year I moved to Sevilla (1993) and is just around the corner from where I lived for over 17 years, but it was only after moving out of the barrio that I got to know it better. It’s a lively little bar festooned with “all things Semana Santa” and is a favourite with locals, who spill out onto the pavement (not much choice as the bar is tiny) and over to the terrace across the road.

The food is basic fare, mostly charcuterie and montaditos (small sandwich rolls), with a few traditional stews and other hot dishes. But people mostly go to socialize and take in the fabulous “ambiente cofrade“. A great place to meet friends and grab a quick bite for lunch or start off an evening tapeo.
