Modesto Restaurant

A bit touristy if you sit outside on the terrace. Inside at the bar it’s much more ‘local’ and also cheaper. Favourite dishes include the “fritadura modesto” - a plate piled high with tempura style fried strips of onions, green & red peppers, topped with a handful of plump fried breaded prawns.

But seriously, there is nothing you could order here that wouldn’t be fabulous. Modesto has an amazing reputation, hence you will always find the bar inside more full of locals than tourists. Just in for a snack or even a chat. I almost always find myself chatting away to other people eating at the bar … it’s just that kind of place. And they also offer seasonal specialities, like the wild mushrooms, the asparagus …

Mind you, I once said to Manolo - “hey those look good, let’s have a couple of those”! Which ended up being fresh giant scallops on the shell, lightly grilled with garlic and parsley, and I won’t even tell you what they cost … took my breath away when we got the bill. But damn they were mighty fine!

But just to say, Nog and I usually have a very good feed there with plenty of wine for less than 30 euros. At the bar.
