Horno San Buenaventura

My favourite breakfast bar in Sevilla, serving the very best coffee in town (that Starbucks that opened right across the street is just full of tourists who want to pay three times more for less quality) and they offer a wide selection of freshly baked breads served toasted with the topping/filling of your choice. Butter or olive oil, jam, fresh tomatoes, jamon serrano, tortilla, manchego cheese, ham & cheese, smoked salmon, you name it. There is also a take-away food section and bakery.
The most friendly and efficient staff you’d ever want to meet (well, if you go to the bar - table service is rather hit and miss). I just love it there. And I always try to place myself at the bar in front of the kitchen window so I can call out to Paco or Sergio - ‘hey, make sure you get that extra toasted, it’s for me!’.
Just to say that this place is so much like ‘being at home’ that on occasion I’ve needed a couple of eggs on a Sunday (nuthin else open) and - hey no problem - they are always willing to help me out. Once I showed up there without my wallet and they said - ‘ah, just pay us tomorrow or the next day!’ and they also let me pay in advance for the one street beggar they allow into the place, when I want to buy him breakfast but haven’t seen him around for awhile.
What can I say? It’s just a wonderful experience - try it and see.
