This was an impromptu trip to Málaga brought about by the chance meeting of a spontaneous Sevilla Tapas Tour client who had a flexible travel schedule and Spain Holiday / Global City Break giving me the use of one of their wonderful beachside apartments in the Malagueta for a few days. Justine had her own apartment in the old centre, but I quite like staying right by the sea. Málaga is wonderful to visit at any time but it has a special charm at Christmas. If you want to see the food pics I took have a look through my Málaga restaurants on Viva Las Tapas.

And here are a few more photos I took while I was there…
This was my first visit to Granada during Corpus Cristi, which is their biggest celebration of the year and also coincides with their Feria. The day before Corpus is the “La Tarasca” procession, with a dragon-riding queen, accompanied by giants and demons wearing huge heads who swat at you with leather balloons as they walk by (they also appear in the Corpus procession). The night before Corpus altars go up (there is a competition for best altar, balcony and storefront display) and the streets along the procession route are strewn with greenery (“lo que hay”, I was told) and camomile flowers. Interesting to see the similarities – and differences – between the ways Granada and Sevilla celebrate Corpus Cristi.
